Frequently Asked Questions
Could sinus disease be the reason for my migraines or headaches?
Yes. Sinus infections, nasal blockage, and nasal allergies can trigger headaches that often mimic migraines. Sometimes both conditions co-exist, so evaluation is important.
Can sinus or snoring issues cause weight gain?
Yes. Poor sleep from nasal block or sleep apnea can alter your hormones, increase appetite, and lead to weight gain. It also lowers energy, making it harder to exercise.
What happens if I don’t take treatment now?
Untreated sinus or snoring problems can worsen over time, leading to fatigue, poor concentration, high blood pressure, diabetes, and increased risk of heart disease and stroke.
What is the solution for children with enlarged tonsils, adenoids, or nasal blockage?
In children, timely treatment (medical or surgical) is crucial. It improves sleep, growth, school performance, and prevents long-term facial and dental changes from mouth breathing.
Is sinus surgery needed repeatedly? Does the bone grow back?
No, the bone does not grow back. Surgery is usually one-time if done correctly. Rarely, if allergies or lifestyle factors are uncontrolled, symptoms may recur and need minor management.
How and where is the CT scan done?
We recommend a low-dose CT scan of the nose and sinuses, which is painless and quick. It is usually done in a diagnostic center near your home/clinic.
Is a CT scan invasive, risky, or scary?
Not at all. It’s a simple scan where you lie down for a few minutes. No needles, no pain, and very low radiation (much lower than a chest CT).
Why do I need a CT scan before consultation?
It gives us a complete picture of your nasal passages, sinuses, and airway in one go. This helps avoid repeated visits, speeds up diagnosis, and ensures we don’t miss hidden issues.
Why is a sleep study needed?
Snoring and poor sleep may signal Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). A sleep study helps us measure your breathing, oxygen levels, and snoring pattern while you sleep. This confirms the diagnosis and guides treatment.
How is the sleep study done?
A technician visits your home, explains everything, and sets up a small device. You sleep naturally in your own bed while the device records overnight. It is collected the next morning.
Is it uncomfortable or painful?
No. The device is light, safe, and most people sleep normally within minutes.
How accurate is a home sleep study compared to a hospital one?
For most patients, it is highly accurate. In rare complex cases, an in-lab study may be advised.
Is the sleep study covered by insurance?
Many insurance policies do cover diagnostic sleep studies. Our team helps with guidance and documentation.
Are sinus and sleep surgeries painful?
Most nasal and sinus surgeries are well tolerated. We use modern techniques (like coblation and endoscopy) that reduce pain and speed up recovery.
Do palatal procedures cause pain?
Yes, some throat/palatal procedures may cause pain while swallowing for a few days, but pain control is always taken care of with medicines and supportive care.
How long is the recovery after surgery?
Recovery depends on the procedure. Most patients return to routine work in 3–5 days after sinus/nasal surgery, and 7–10 days after throat surgery.
Is paediatric tonsil and adenoid Coblation-assisted surgery really bloodless and painless?
Yes. Coblation is a gentle technology that uses controlled plasma energy instead of heat. This makes the surgery nearly bloodless and much less painful, ensuring faster recovery and better comfort for children.
What is the cost of treatment?
The cost depends on the procedure, hospital, and diagnostic tests required. We provide a clear estimate after consultation.
Is treatment covered under insurance?
Yes, most sinus, nasal, and sleep apnea surgeries are covered under insurance when medically indicated. Cosmetic add-ons (like aesthetic rhinoplasty) are usually not covered.
